The Forum on Thermalism

Every year a Forum has been held based on a different theme together with the local regional bodies, Thermal Springs Associations and newspapers.
We make a wide-spread appeal to society through special commemorative publications and news bulletins.

Research activities on resorts (research on thermal resorts)

Research concerning thermal resorts are carried out concerning local government and civilian planning groups.

Oshima Award

The Oshima Award was established for those who had made contributions to research on thermal springs and to international exchange in 1999. At present 4 people have received the award.

Oshima Academic Library

In order to obtain a good reference database, the Oshima Academic Library foundation committee was established in 1989. Professor Uematsu of the National Library University and persons related to the Tokyo Metropolitan University planned to do research on gathering and maintenance of information on materials from both the West and East on natural medicine. Future plans include its digitalization to make it more widely available to researchers both in and outside of Japan.

Oshima Fellowship

1987 Assistant professor and lecturer from Hokkaido University were sent to Germany
1989/1990 Professor and Assistant Professor from Toho University were sent to Peru. The results of their research were published in the report "The Thermal Springs of Peru" which was presented to the Peruvian government.
